Baby Swimming Lessons
Swimming Lessons for Babies (0-18 months)
Here at Aqua-Babe we have taught thousands of babies, toddlers and children to swim and give them the ability to safely enjoy, embrace & navigate the water. Making it fun, every kick and paddle of the way!
From your first visit to the pool, we shall support you whilst we introduce your special person to the wonders of the swimming pool, whilst developing their natural water instincts and encouraging their enjoyment.
You are making a fantastic decision to introduce your baby to the wonders of the swimming pool, not only is it a “Gift for Life”; you will be so proud of them throughout their amazing journey and when you go on holiday or to a local pool, every other parent will be amazed at your little swimmer.
We also encourage partners and family members to come into the pool and experience the wonderful natural bonding that takes place.
For your loyalty in joining Aqua-babe, I am more than aware that our little people can catch everything and anything from nursery etc, therefore, I always offer the opportunity to come on a different day where possible that suits us all.
Structured Fun
The classes follow progressive lesson plans and shadow the STA (Swimming Teachers Association) badge standards ensuring that they improve week on week. Our classes are held weekly for 30 minutes and are small & friendly (many long-term friendships are known to materialise from being in a baby swim group) While the classes are structured, it is paramount that the babies also have fun and we do our best to ensure that there are elements of fun, through songs, toys, play and repetition This allows our babies to develop their swimming skills week on week.
They will watch and listen to you blowing bubbles – their first introduction to breathing in the pool.
Using toys in the pool they will quickly learn to paddle and grab.
Their natural gag (dive) reflex is still in their memory brain until about 6 months old, before their first underwater swim, we shall guide and even set you homework to ensure everyone is happy.
Floating is a vital part of the first 2 years of water confidence building, the RNLI call it the “60 second Star Float on your back”
We shall encourage your babies to hold onto the side and be “Safe”
Benefits for your Baby
Being in the water will come naturally to your baby. The water gives babies a sense of calm and allows them to move freely and unrestricted. Early swimming has a number of benefits for baby including motor skill and cognitive development.
Research has suggested that babies who swim are often more alert for their age and have better eating and sleeping patterns. Not only is swimming a fun activity it also helps child development.
When should I start baby swimming lessons?
Your baby can be 6 weeks old or if you prefer after their first inoculation when they start their amazing swimming journey.

Yes!
The pool at The Junction has two shallow ends at 0.9m (around hip height). This means that even if you can’t swim or you’re not confident you will be able to walk in the pool. It is advisable to let us know that you are nervous or anxious or both as we can then support you through the lessons in order that you both grow in confidence together.
