Toddler Swimming Lessons
Swimming Lessons for Toddlers (18 months – 2. 1/2-year-old)
We shall continue to develop their skills previously gained in the baby classes. Now they shall be very happy making great splashes and giggling with their class friends. Legs will also be kicking which is a very natural movement for them in the water, we also step it up a little bit and introduce them to more age-appropriate games.
They learn the use of the edge of the swimming pool, both holding on and jumping in.
As the classes are repetitive, our little people learn the songs and join in and engage with their swim friends, however we are in to the age of “Terrible Two’s”, therefore every lesson will be different for both yourself, the little swimmer and myself as the teacher, some day’s will be awesome other days may well be less so but together we all pull through for another session – giving up is not an option!
As we discussed the vital and crucial foundation of swimming – Floating – this can be quite difficult for them now as they are also at a crucial point in their land development such as walking and being much more aware of their surroundings (nosey); therefore, floating can become quite tricky, noisy and for some frustrating however with my guidance and your gentle positive parenting skills, this reluctance soon passes – promise!
For your loyalty in joining Aqua-babe, I am more than aware that our little people can catch everything and anything from nursery etc, therefore, I always offer the opportunity to come on a different day where possible that suits us all.
Benefits for your Toddler
Swimming boosts breathing skills, coordination, strength and flexibility – and taking up a swimming class is a fantastic way for children to make new friends.
But it’s not just important for fun. Learning to swim is crucial for your little one’s safety – it could save your child’s life someday by preventing a drowning accident, our lessons also include teaching them to help themselves in the water, therefore giving you more time to get to them if they are in trouble, hopefully not, but it may be necessary.
When should I start toddler swimming lessons?
If your child is already a toddler, there is no reason to delay getting them into the water and learning this valuable life skill. Covid has played a very large part in our lives and preventing so much for our little people to engage in, it is never too late to start swimming.
Positive parenting and good teaching make their first steps less daunting, we all work together as a team and I always welcome feedback, such as a bad night, had their injections etc, therefore I can be more in tune with them too.
Our toddler and pre-school lessons take them all the way to school age and will give them the confidence and water safety that all children should know.
